About Flotilla 74
of the Coast Guard Auxiliary

Welcome!
Flotilla 74 is in District 7, which covers Florida, north to South Carolina and most of Georgia, and south to Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Our Flotilla has members from throughout the Brandon, Florida, area. We are a growing group of boating enthusiasts of all ages and walks of life. Some of us own boats, others do not. Some of us have many years of experience, others are just beginning the adventure.

Fellowship is important

We also greatly value fellowship and have a variety of social events throughout the year, from Christmas parties to boating BBQs on an island near the mouth of the Alafia River.

We volunteer our time and resources, according to our interests and availability, to promote the Coast Guard and its missions, primarily the Coast Guard's Recreational Boating Safety Mission in the Tampa Bay area, and in all its local missions, except law enforcement and military operations, including environmental protection missions, fishing vessel inspections, Homeland Security, and more. We participate in disaster planning and relief, communications, patrols, examining recreational boats, conducting boating classes, teaching youngsters or saving lives, and helping at boat shows, regattas, and other boating events. We are trained, tested and certified to provide this help. For a full list of services, open the Directory of Services (requires PDF reader), a guide to become acquainted with the capabilities of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and its members.

If you're an American citizen 17 years of age or older, you can become a member! Applicants complete a short Orientation and Entry Training Program. Once this is completed, you'll have the opportunity to gain additional boating knowledge, skills and qualifications by participating in free training programs. The opportunity to increase knowledge and skills through training and experience with the CG and Auxiliary is a primary reason many people join the Auxiliary. Training programs range from simple in-flotilla lessons through advanced specialty courses and programs. Qualified members enthusiastically share their knowledge, experience, expertise, and time in helping fellow members learn and advance. If you'd like to inquire about joining, contact our Personnel Services Officer.

Our flotilla meetings are held monthly at 1930 (7:30pm) on the second Tuesday of each month, in our building at JC Handley County Park at 3006 Kings Ave., Brandon.

If you'd like to visit, contact the Flotilla Commander.

Or call us at 1-800-704-4216.
